The parking company registers the vehicle when entering and exiting the area, and the parking time is calculated from entry to exit. If there is a queue when exiting, you will be charged until you have driven out of the area.
If you have paid at the machine before exiting, you have a limited time to drive out of the area before additional charges apply. This is regulated by each individual parking company.
